Godtfred saw the immense potential in Lego bricks to become a system for creative play, but the bricks still had some problems from a technical standpoint: their locking ability was limited, and they were not versatile. It was his conversation with an overseas buyer that led to the idea of a toy system. īy 1954, Christiansen's son, Godtfred, had become the junior managing director of the Lego Group. Although a common sentiment, Lego toys seem to have become a significant exception to the dislike of plastic in children's toys, due in part to the high standards set by Ole Kirk. By 1951, plastic toys accounted for half of the Lego company's output, even though the Danish trade magazine Legetøjs-Tidende ("Toy Times"), visiting the Lego factory in Billund in the early 1950s, felt that plastic would never be able to replace traditional wooden toys. This motto, which is still used today, was created by Christiansen to encourage his employees never to skimp on quality, a value he believed in strongly. The Lego Group's motto, "only the best is good enough" ( Danish: det bedste er ikke for godt, literally "the best isn't excessively good") was created in 1936. Lego bricks Two Lego Duplo bricks with a standard brick for comparison The bricks, originally manufactured from cellulose acetate, were a development of the traditional stackable wooden blocks of the time. Lego had received a sample of the Kiddicraft bricks from the supplier of an injection-molding machine that it purchased. These bricks were based on the Kiddicraft Self-Locking Bricks, which had been patented in the United Kingdom in 1939 and released in 1947. In 1949 Lego began producing, among other new products, an early version of the now familiar interlocking bricks, calling them "Automatic Binding Bricks". In 1947, Lego expanded to begin producing plastic toys. In 1934, his company came to be called "Lego", derived from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play well". The Lego Group began in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen (1891–1958), a carpenter from Billund, Denmark, who began making wooden toys in 1932. Main articles: History of Lego and Lego timeline Hilary Fisher Page's Interlocking Building Cubes by Kiddicraft, 1939 As of July 2015, 600 billion Lego parts had been produced. One of Europe's biggest companies, Lego is the largest toy manufacturer in the world by sales. Films, games competitions, and eight Legoland amusement parks have been developed under the brand. The Lego Group began manufacturing the interlocking toy bricks in 1949. Anything constructed can be taken apart again, and the pieces reused to make new things. Lego pieces can be assembled and connected in many ways to construct objects, including vehicles, buildings, and working robots. Lego consists of variously colored interlocking plastic bricks made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene that accompany an array of gears, figurines called minifigures, and various other parts. Lego ( / ˈ l ɛ ɡ oʊ/ LEG-oh, Danish: stylized as LEGO) is a line of plastic construction toys that are manufactured by the Lego Group, a privately held company based in Billund, Denmark.

There was a connection between a Phantom Horse and their rider, but even without it, Mayhem was smart and knew him well enough to not be fooled. She replied by huffing once, her breath rising as steam in the cool air. Only now did he notice Mayhem beside him, clearly watching from what he could tell, though her eyes remained hidden behind the armour. He heard a snort and the sound of a hoof pawing the soil. Strife groaned, running a hand across his mask. It was still pitch black, though his glowing eyes could make out some of his surroundings, and thankfully there was nothing but trees and sleeping angels. He was in a forest deep within the Cloudbreaker Mountains. It took him a moment to remember where he was, and realize that he wasn’t actually on Eden. Strife gasped, suddenly wide awake, heart pounding in his chest. The Nephilim had been erased as utterly as a people could be.īony hands pulled him down, as the undead Nephilim closed ranks, until there was hardly room to move. No redemption, no second chance, no cleansing in the land of the dead and rebirth. Death had seen to it, without protests, the heartless bastard. But had that been enough? Enough to be rewarded with this new life, incredible power and near immortality?Įnough to escape punishment, when everyone else had paid the ultimate price? Strife knew that the Council had ordered their very souls destroyed. Realised the whole, horrific magnitude of their actions and decided to no longer partake in the slaughter. More than some perhaps.īut he’d realised that their murderous rampage needed end. He had as much blood on his hands as any of them. WHY DID WE DESERVE TO DIE, WHILE YOU LIVE?! That was all Strife could think, as she grabbed him by his mask, pulling his face close to hers. Of all of us, why did you deserve a second chance? So, why you? the Vindicator questioned, once again getting into his face. You can’t hide behind your mask and your duty. You’re the same monster you’ve always been. The one holding him by the scarf pushed him away, and Strife was caught by two others, their skeletal fingers seizing him with unnatural strength. With blade and bullet, another chimed in, despite his lower jaw missing and the tattered tongue uselessly hanging out. There was never a place for us in all of creation. Were our lives not worth protecting?Īnother suddenly grasped him by the scarf and yanked violently, almost knocking Strife off his feet and bringing the Horseman close to his rotting face. Now you masquerade as a protector of the Balance, she hissed, her claws scratching across the surface of his mask, her own shattered around the right eye, revealing part of an almost mummified face. Not to feel.Ī Vindicator stepped forth from the group, and raised her hand. The entire time he had tried not to think. But he hadn’t enjoyed it…right? Much of what had happened that day was a blur. The heart-pounding thrill of combat was something they all naturally craved and yes, he had felt it even when battling his own kin. He had always enjoyed fighting, killing it was a Nephilim-thing. Any job that gave you the thrill of killing something…someone.ĭid you enjoy it? When you slaughtered us. No, you enjoyed it so much you made it your profession. And so did you.īut for you it wasn’t enough. We followed them into battle countless times. We followed our elders, their teachings and orders. But that only seemed to enrage the dead further.ĭo you think yourself better than us? A warrior spat, and then one by one they took their turn. He took a deep breath and actually holstered Mercy. He didn’t want to look them in the eyes.Īre we not your enemy? A cold, female voice snarled. Strife tried to keep his eyes on the ground. His brothers and sisters were now surrounding him, having stopped just out of arms reach. Strife didn’t draw Redemption, instead he just stood there, waiting. The risen Nephilim came closer, and more crawled out of the ground, emerging from beneath the bones of those slain in their crusades. Why was he forced to face them once more? He had killed them once and done it again, when that witch Astarte had raised them as her minions. They were closing in from all direction, blocking his escape.Ī part of him refused to go down without one, but his heart grew heavy at the thought. They had found him again, and in the haze dark silhouettes appeared all around the Horseman. In 2010, Sanders made the news with his more than eight-hour-long filibuster against the extension of George W. He managed to win despite his opponent's significant advantage in funding: Tarrant spent $7 million of his own personal wealth in this election battle. Sanders sought to switch to the Senate in 2006, running against Republican businessman Richard Tarrant. In an address to the House, he said "As a caring Nation, we should do everything we can to prevent the horrible suffering that a war will cause." Sanders also questioned the timing of military action "at a time when this country has a $6 trillion national debt and a growing deficit." Senator Sanders He was a vocal opponent of the Iraq War, concerned about the social and financial impact that the conflict could cause. Outspoken on the issues, Sanders criticized both parties whenever he felt they were in the wrong. As Sanders explained to The Progressive, he considered working with the Republicans to be "unthinkable," but he did caucus with the Democrats despite "a lot of opposition among conservative Democrats to my being in that caucus." He had to find political allies to advance his issues and legislation. As an independent, Sanders found himself facing a dilemma. Known for his rumpled clothes and untamed mane, Sanders made an unlikely candidate for national office, but this political underdog scored a 1990 win for a seat in the U.S. He was reelected three more times, proving that the self-described "democratic socialist" had staying power. Sanders was able to achieve this win with the support of the Progressive Coalition, a grassroots organization. In 1981, he was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont, by only 12 votes. His first taste of political victory came by the thinnest of margins. In the 1970s, Sanders made several unsuccessful bids for public office as a member of the anti-war Liberty Union Party, before he left the group in 1979. Although his status was eventually rejected, by then he was too old to be drafted. He worked a number of jobs, including filmmaker, freelance writer, psychiatric aide and teacher for low-income children through Head Start, while his interest in politics grew.ĭuring the Vietnam War, Sanders applied for conscientious objector status. "That was clearly a major American injustice and something that had to be dealt with."Īfter finishing college in 1964 with a degree in political science, Sanders lived on a kibbutz in Israel before settling in Vermont. "It was a question for me of just basic justice - the fact that it was not acceptable in America at that point that you had large numbers of African-Americans who couldn't vote, who couldn't eat in a restaurant, whose kids were going to segregated schools, who couldn't get hotel accommodations living in segregated housing," he told the Burlington Free Press. In 1963 he participated in the March on Washington. He also served as an organizer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. As a member of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), Sanders participated in a sit-in against the segregation of off-campus housing in 1962. Sanders became involved in the Civil Rights Movement during his university days. After a year there, he transferred to the University of Chicago. Sanders attended Brooklyn's James Madison High School and then went on to Brooklyn College. That was the major inspiration in my politics." Sanders also counts American socialist leader Eugene V. As he told the Guardian newspaper, "I saw unfairness. As part of a struggling working-class family, Sanders recognized early on America's economic disparity. He grew up in Brooklyn as the youngest of two sons of Jewish immigrants from Poland. Independent politician Bernie Sanders was born on September 8, 1941, in New York. The Vermont senator launched another presidential campaign in 2019, but again came up short in his bid for the Democratic nomination. He announced his plans to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2015, ultimately sparking a huge progressive movement, before conceding the nomination to Hillary Clinton. Senate in 2006 and was reelected in 2012. He then moved on to the national political arena by winning a seat in the House of Representatives, distinguishing himself as one of the country's few independent legislators. Born in 1941, politician Bernie Sanders started out his political career as the mayor of Burlington, Vermont, serving four terms as the leader of the state's biggest city from 1981 to 1989. My recommendation is to turn off KAC's built in warp-stopping functionality, as Time Control's is more precise and will get you to the alarm point very fast. Time Control has an integrated "Warp to next KAC Alarm" feature. They will work correctly (+38 seconds / minute), but the multipliers wouldn't be that useful. Note that the quick-warp and warp-to quick +/- buttons won't make sense if your kerbal minute is 38 seconds long and kerbal hour is 17 kerbal-minutes. Time Control will respect the years/days/hours/minutes that Kronometer sets up. Recommended Mods that go well with Time Control: Also provided in the hyper warp window is a throttle slider, so you can precisely control your throttle even when the standard throttle response is sped up. If you like, have it pause when it finishes so you can AFK while it goes and not worry about missing anything. You can either manually control when hyper warp is active, or you can set it to warp for a period of time, which is particularly useful for long burns with ION or Nuclear engines. If you know your ship can hold together in phys-warp, you can reduce the accuracy to attain better speeds and FPS. The higher the number, the less accurate physics calculations become. The second slider sets the minimum accuracy. The first slider sets the maximum attempted speed - note that it is unlikely that you will be able to attain that speed unless you have a very powerful computer or a very small craft. This has a myriad of uses, like speeding up launches or burns (especially with lower TWR craft), flying planes around the world, running Kerbals long distances, etc. The hyper warp menu gives you the ability to speed up time without sacrificing physics accuracy like phys-warp does. The FPS Keeper has been removed from this release and will be added back in at a later date. Also provided in the slow-motion window is a throttle slider, so you can precisely control your throttle even when the standard throttle response is slowed. The pause button freezes physics, and allows you to step forward one physics frame at a time, for even more precise control. It is also very useful because even with high part counts where your computer is struggling with physics calculations, your frame-rate will NOT be slowed, so you can maintain full control of your camera, parts on your ship, and anything else. If you flip on the "lock physics delta" option, time will slow down, but the physics calculations won't change, so parts will appear to stutter and motion will be choppy. This allows you to see how your ship behaves at a much slower pace, so you can determine what might be going wrong. This can sometimes cause problems with launch clamps or clipped parts, so beware. Note that this will change how the physics of your vessel behaves, joints will stiffen and become more rigid (the opposite of what happens in phys-warp). By default, the slider slows down both the game speed and the physics delta, resulting in a smooth slow motion. The slow motion menu gives you the ability to slow down time, or completely pause time and step forward frame by frame. Pictures of the GUI are in each spoiler below. In the Space Center and Tracking Station, hyper warp and slow-mo are not available. The seven letters at the top of the window allow you to switch operation modes between details, quick warp, warp-to, rails editor, keybindings, slow-mo, and hyper warp. Curseforge Project Site Please add issues or enhancement requests to the issue tracker on GitHub! It's small enough that usually it is not a problem when you are applying thrust to your vehicle.Īlso, there seems to be a problem with some engine sounds after using hyper warp.ĭownload current release on GitHub. I think this has something to do with the interaction between the coordinate systems and floating point issues that I am not smart enough to figure out right now. Note that in Low Kerbin Orbit, when using 'hyper-warp' you may sometimes find your Semi-Major axis changing without any force on your vessel. Originally designed by an advanced successor to the popular Dynamic Warp mod, this mod gives you complete control of time in KSP by allowing you to slow down time to get those cool explosions on video(or find out why your rocket is blowing up on the pad), boost the rate of time to ridiculous levels without loss of precision to ease those long burns, set custom warp rates and per-planet custom altitude limits, utilize automatic warping, and monitor the physics engine and game performance. Water Resistance: While not an indicator of overall quality, a watch's water-resistance can be crucial depending on its intended use. COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certification is one indicator of accuracy for Swiss watches.īrand Reputation: Established brands with a long history of watchmaking often have a reputation for quality and reliability, which you can often see in the finishes touches-polished surfaces, beveled edges and attention to detail in the dial, hands, and markers. A watch made of durable materials will generally feel more substantial.Īccuracy: While no watch is 100% accurate, a quality timepiece will have minimal time deviation. A watch's weight can sometimes (but not always) be an indicator of its quality. Mineral and acrylic crystals are other options, with varying degrees of durability.Ĭraftsmanship: Signs of detailed workmanship, especially in high-end mechanical watches, include hand-finished components, polished edges and intricate designs that indicate superior craftsmanship. For the face, sapphire crystal is the gold standard for quality watches due to its scratch resistance. Materials: High-quality watches often use stainless steel, titanium, ceramic or precious metals like gold and platinum for the case. An automatic movement is a type of mechanical movement that winds itself using the motion of the wearer's arm. It's appreciated for its craftsmanship and tradition. A mechanical movement is powered by a mainspring and requires manual winding. It's powered by a battery and is generally more affordable. A quartz movement is known for its accuracy and low maintenance. Movement: There are three different types to consider.
